NAVARRE PYRENEES - WALKING ALONG WITH THE GOOD COOKERY Spain - Pyrenees | |||||||||||||||
|
|
The mountain range of The Pyrenees is much more than a succession of beautiful landscape and nature. There you can also find ancient cultures of great character where history and mythology often blend. The
Navarra Pyrenees is situated in a setting where man and nature have
survived without damaging each other. We suggest a trip on foot that
lets us discover its most emblematic corners. We
will begin in the Irati jungle, known as the biggest beech
forest in Southern Europe and considered one of the wildest places of
the Pyrenees. Surrounded by valleys, this central part of the Navarra
Pyrenees mixes rocky expanses; high peaks topped with crags or
pastureland, and wooded fertile forests. After that we will
continue on the Roncesvalles route as far as the Larra
natural reserve in the Roncal valley. We will continue as
far as the northern part of the Pyrenees where we will enjoy the
contrast between the rounded grassy peaks that top the crest and the
spectacular canyon of Holzarte and Elhuarre. In our last stage
we will visit Las Bardenas Reales, a magic mysterious enclave
situated in the southwest of Navarra. Its strange desert-like
appearance is the result of an intense erosive activity. The
Navarra gastronomy is like its land and people: rich and
varied. The best vegetables, fish, meat and cheese mix to let us enjoy
their tastes. On the bank of the river Ebro the most valued wines
in Spain are made. ITINERARY:
